Software Engineer β’ Weather Tech & IoT Developer β’ Sports Data Architect
Passionate about bridging real-world hardware telemetry with sleek, high-reliability software. From real-time WeatherFlow Tempest telemetry engines and SmartThings Edge micro-drivers to the statewide Ohio High School Football computer rating and analytics platform.
Explore live interactive demonstrations of my favorite domains: real-time weather telemetry, sports computer rating models, and local IoT packet streaming.
In Ohio high school football, computer ratings determine official playoff berths using the Harbin system. Teams earn Level 1 points for their own victories, plus Level 2 points for every win earned by defeated opponents.
Harbin Rating = (Level 1 Points + Level 2 Points) / Total Games
Built into my full-scale OhioHSFootball progressive web app, supporting real-time Friday night score syncs and bracket forecasts.
Real-time simulated feed showing local network UDP broadcasts from WeatherFlow Tempest devices, Raspberry Pi Pico W MicroPython drivers, and SmartThings Edge local hub drivers.
Listens for UDP multicast & transmits 433MHz signals locally.
Processes raw local sensor telemetry without relying on third-party cloud APIs.
A selection of open-source tools, weather applications, smart home platforms, and community systems built for reliability and real-world utility.

Comprehensive Python-powered web console and dynamic plotting suite for the WeatherFlow Tempest weather station. Generates high-resolution multi-variable meteorological charts, pressure trend graphs, and live telemetry dashboards.
Automated Python pipeline monitoring the National Weather Service (NWS) API for active tornado, thunderstorm, and flood warnings, instantly triggering smart home switches, sirens, and webCoRE routines.
Local-first SmartThings Edge driver written in Lua and paired with Raspberry Pi Pico W MicroPython firmware. Decodes local Tempest UDP broadcasts and 433MHz RF signals with zero cloud dependency.
Interactive chatbot integration tailored for Webtrees genealogy web installations. Helps researchers, family historians, and community members query and explore ancestral records conversationally.
Windows desktop application and accompanying Python modules to reliably extract, format, and archive long-term historical meteorological data directly from personal WeatherFlow devices via authenticated API tokens.
A comprehensive overview of languages, frameworks, embedded hardware, and cloud systems I work with on a daily basis.
I am an engineer driven by curiosity about how the physical world interacts with software. Whether decoding the micro-variations of barometric pressure in a summer storm, building real-time dashboards for thousands of high school sports fans, or automating severe weather alerts to protect homes, my goal is always the same: make complex data accessible, responsive, and reliable.
Rather than over-complicating stacks with unnecessary external dependencies, I value clean architecture, automated GitHub Actions pipelines, and local-first hardware drivers that continue operating even when the external internet flickers.
Prioritizing direct UDP sockets and local edge drivers for instant, cloud-independent response.
Ingesting and transforming public datasets into intuitive, accessible community tools.
"The most satisfying engineering challenges are the ones where hardware meets codeβtaking physical signals from the air, the field, or the home, and transforming them into real-time insights that people count on every day."
